El Potrero Chico

EPC Day 1
Almost missed our flight while lounging. Too chilled out to notice that with Viva, starts their boarding process 90 minutes before departure. Our flight departs at 420pm but they start boarding at 2;55pm… around that time I was starting my 2nd drink. I asked Jenn if Aly has departed yet and she said her flight was delayed and now departing around 4pm. We looked at the time and our boarding pass…. and holy schneike it was almost 330pm… and the gate was another 100 miles away. So just like Phoenix from Easter, it was the 300 meter sprint with a belly full of food and alcohol… I almost puked when we reached the gate. But we made it. From our gate we walked downstairs to the ramp level and took a bus to the plane, about 1/4 mi away. Now we know why they start boarding so early… its because they have to bus the passengers to the airplane.

The flight itself was uneventful, with the plane about 50% capacity.
We arrived almost 30 minutes early, and so did Aly. We kept in touch via whatsapp. Our terminal did not have a jet bridge but was close enough that no bus ride needed this time. We arrived in terminal C. Aly, we found out later, was in terminal A.

Esthela aka Maria, Jorge’s daughter, picked us up from Terminal C. She got hung up in traffic and we waited about 15 min before she arrived. We picked up Aly next and off we went to a sea of red lights. Goog maps showed about 5 wrecks ahead of us.

It took us about 90 minutes to get to the house when it normally would have taken about 45 minutes. Fortunately Maria was very adept at maneuvering around traffic.

Multi-pitch table top practice with Alex & Saad.

Day 2 Wednesday
700 alarm
Coffee
Hike up to El Mirador wall. Shaheena and Aly climbed Libertad.

Alex, Jenn, and Saad climbed Yogi Unchained. Started climbing around 915am.

Watched 3 climbing parties climb Estrellita

Jenn bailed on last pitch of Yogi unchained at 1250pm. Saad up next.
Jenn: it was scary, I could not figure out how to make the move up to clip (I stayed there for about 15 minutes trying to figure it out!)

The afternoon consisted of a couple hours of single-pitching, Jen lead “Red-Headed Stepchild” which was a very fun lead.
